Who is Vitor Roque?
Labelled as the next Brazilian Ronaldo, Vitor Roque is a typical out-and-out striker playing for Club Athletico Paranaense. The 172cm tall centre-forward was born on this very day, February 28th, 2005 in Timóteo. (Happy birthday to him btw!) He was signed for a rather bargain fee of only €4.7Million in April 2022 and have really revived his professional career by moving from Cruzeiro to Athletico-Paranaense.
The 17 year old Brazilian striker has turned in some incredible performances lately, making both Arsenal, A.C Milan, RB Salzburg, Newcastle and Barcelona interested in signing the next Ronaldo. With 5 goals in 29 appearances in the Brazilian Serie A and 6 goals in 8 games in the U-20 South American Championship 2023 as he represented the Brazilian Under-20 National team his transfer value has skyrocketed.
What is Vitor Roque’s style of play?
The right-footed forward is capable of playing on both wings as an Inverted Winger but is best suited as an Advanced Forward leading the line. Like Ronaldo 9 he boosts a blend of power and pace using his attacking sharpness to penetrate the defensive organizations with clever off the ball movements.
The clinical forward seems to have everything you desire of a modern forward in Football Manager 2023. Even though he could be described as a great penalty box player – capable of popping up and tapping in close range shots due to his brilliant off-the ball movement and work rate, he can in fact score goals from all ranges whether the ball comes on the ground or by winning aerial duels.
Apart from having an eye for the goal, Vitor Roque is also capable of dropping deep and holding up the ball before turning with it, just like a deep-lying forward or the False 9. With the ball at his feet, he’s great at fending off pressure with his great physic and use his athleticism, ball control and technique to get the necessary space to either finish off the attacks or move the ball into a better positioned player.
Vitor Roque is one of these highly forward-thinking and direct players. There’s some similarities to Erling Haaland as he looks for the first opportunity to shoot on goal and often looks to use minimal time to get control of the ball before trying to take a long shot on goal.
Unlike Haaland, he got great agility and dribbling in one-on-one situations to make inverted runs and gain ground by using his creativity to enter the final third. The way he managed to be calm when in a potential chance to score is amazing – especially considering his young age!

I’ll be so bold to say that Vitor Roque will be a great fit regardless of playing style – whether the manager wish to use his main strengths by launching quick counter-attacks by feeding the ball to Vitor Roque sooner rather than later, or the team plays more like Barcelona’s Tiki-Taka by moving the ball forward in intricate passing patterns.
What is Vitor Roque’s best skills?
To summarize, Vitor Roque is probably one of the most interesting Advanced Forwards in FM23. He stands out for his Acceleration, Pace, Finishing, Long shots, Dribbling and Flair.
In fact, he has a highly well-rounded player profile in FM23 making him a potential candidate to be developed into player who can play whatever role you require of him. His only minor weakness is probably his aerial skills with low levels of Jumping Reach, average Heading and an unfavorable height.
Besides Finishing, he has a low centre of gravity and is highly quick footed – something that makes him stand out when he has small acres of space and is required to use tricks and change of direction to lure the opposite marker.
What is Vitor Roque’s potential in FM23?
Vitor Roque has currently a random potential that fluctuate between 150 and 180 from save to save. He has still lots of room to grow and could become one of the best strikers in the future – one who might score an incredible amount of goals.
